Business Challenge

  • Customer had more than 5,000 2D Drawings and hand-made sketches dating back to 1960s that needed to be transformed to 3D parametric models for Design Automation
  • Lack of in-house Engineering Personnel resulted in a huge backlog, thereby restricting their current innovation and product development initiatives.

The Solution

  • Sconce setup an offshore design center with Engineers who understood customer’s products and the modern CAD technologies like Creo Parametric
  • After a detailed study of the 2D drawings and handmade sketches, Sconce started to convert the drawings to 3D parametric models and assemblies. Associative fully detailed production drawings and Bill of Materials were also generated for downstream applications
  • The complex assemblies were driven by automation through Pro-Program to foster Design Re-Use and thereby saving a lot of Product Development Time


  • Resulted in improved Product Development efficiency with Design Re-Use and automation by up to 20%
