Global Auto Supplier completes IT systems consolidation of their M&As using Sconce’s Migration Expertise

Business Challenge

  • Customer had acquired various business units worldwide and was looking to consolidate the systems with one global PLM Solution – Teamcenter
  • It was one of the most complex data migration project with four different legacy systems (Windchill 10.1, SharePoint, FileMakerPro & Network Drive) to be migrated to Teamcenter 10.1
  • Millions of records across all the sources required to be normalized & assimilated to attain seamless migration
  • Consolidating Part numbers across global divisions to avoid conflicts
  • Multi CAD dataset (Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) require multiple analysis tools and loaders for data migration process

The Solution

  • WBM (Windchill Bulk Migrator) & Custom Extractors are used to extract data from Windchill, FileMaker Pro, SharePoint & Network drives
  • Custom/OOTB tools were utilized/developed to analyze the multi CAD dataset to find missing references, file/instance Duplicate and other data integrity issues
  • Designed a robust migration architecture for efficient migration process with 100% data quality
  • The staging environment was built in Oracle with robust schema for Data Parsing, Data Mapping & Data Loading
  • VB.Net & PL/SQL scripts are used for Normalization and batch file preparation for Teamcenter loading
  • OOTB Teamcenter loaders are used to load CAD & Non-CAD dataset to Teamcenter (UG Import, IPS Upload & IPEM)
  • Utilities are developed using ITK Toolkit for post migration activities
  • The entire migration process was designed in a robust framework to accommodate future enhancement
